2GATHER Yeshivah receives its name from the messianic concept of echad—unity—in Messiah Yeshua (Jesus the Christ). Messianic Judaism—Jewish/Christianity—teaches that Jew and Gentile are made one in Messiah(Romans 2 and 3, Galatians 3:28); this does not mean that we loose our unique cultural or ethnic identities but rather that we become one in the knowledge that it is only by grace through the sacrificial death of Messiah Yeshua and His resurrection that any human being may enter into the eternal rest of G-d, the Olam Habba—world to come. With this in mind we welcome all those who with a teachable heart would seek to understand their Messianic Jewish/Christian faith through the lens of the form of first century Judaism that Messiah Yeshua practiced.
We do not demand adherence to meaningless tradition however we do teach the freedom to keep positive tradition, not for the sake of earning salvation but rather as a vehicle for intimacy with G-d through Messiah Yeshua. We are not saved by keeping the Torah-Instruction-nor are we saved to break it. There are things known and taught to human beings and there are things unknown, mysteries that belong only to G-d(Devarim/Deuteronomy 29:29.)
2GATHER is a relaxed Yeshivah style interactive Bible Study examining the Jewish roots of our faith and the Halakhic--the way we walk or work out our faith in practice--tradition resulting from the unity of a heart, mind and strength learning process. We see Yeshua as Teacher/Rabbi(Mattiyahu/Matthew 23:8) and believe the talmudic idea of sharing in our learning as profitable.
"If you wish to become a rabbi, first find yourself a student and become his pupil." — YBY Paraphrase of Talmudic passage
Mishnah Pirkei Avot-Ethics of our Fathers, 1:6
