"For as Jonah was in the belly of the great fish for three days and three nights, so will the Son of Man be in the heart of the earth for three days and three nights." --Matthew 12:40 This week I was asked by a local church, to bust a Christian myth. I chose to bust the myth that Yeshua (Jesus) was crucified on a Friday. The following slide presentation is the message I presented:

Thanks! This is a great resource for me when I study the bible with people. Can you please email a copy of the slides to me so I can include this with my material. We have a bible study series that we use (Kirk developed) and this would be a great tool to use in the Cross study. Thanks!

Although we know with certainty that "Good Friday" is set apart and celebrated by many (if not most) Christians, I also know there are a distinct minority who do not accept the standard teaching-- I was thinking that, for their sakes and for those Christians who are sincerely seeking to reconcile the accounts, perhaps the word "Busted" at the end of the presentation is a bit too strong?

Shalom Don, thanks for your respectful critique. In my defense, I was asked to follow the format of the T.V. show, "The Myth Busters," to keep within the sermon series of the church in question, this is why the last slide says, "Busted". However, out of respect for you and any others who may be unnecessarily ofended, I have removed the last slide. I will also send you a friendly version of the Power point.

Al, you did a tremendous job researching this and I can't refute anything you have said. Thought...is Dec. 25th the day Christ was born? As a mature believer, the important thing

Shalom Dad. I agree with your position. We have found that teaching these facts has been an aid to the salvation of others, which I believe is the best use of any teaching. I don't demand that anyone change the date of their observance. In fact I have rebuked certain Messianic groups for suggesting that other's are required to do so. I simply believe that as a teacher of the Word I am obligated to teach truth to the best of my ability. I continue to be grateful for your support and for the G-dly heritage you have bestowed upon our children. You will be pleased to know that we have baptized two believers over the past month and that our group is bursting at the seems. We breathe for the opportunity to see His Kingdom come. Thanks again for your encouragement and thoughtful response. "It's for freedom He has set us free." :-) Comments are closed.
